Jason Mraz

I love him...below are some wise words from his website (and he's a Cancer, just like me).

“Relationships. I love ‘em. I don’t know if it’s my Cancerian nature or the fact that my parents once had one. I love being in a relationship as much as I love my world becoming crushed by them. I love observing the relationships of others and then uncovering the lessons within. Life is too short to make enough mistakes ourselves so it’s important to learn from everyone else. I think it’s exciting translating common stories into song.”

“Respecting relationships is the same reason I wear that ‘I love sex’ button, it was given to me by my two favorite people who are so perfect for each other. I hope someday I find my perfect other and we have a lot of sex.”

Busy...yes, busy!

This weekend is going to be busy...really busy. Tonight I am having dinner with Heather, Marisa and Jared at Pesos'...one of the best dining establisments in all of Seattle and maybe all of Earth. Over the rest of the weekend I have to write my portion of my school team's paper and work on our PowerPoint presentation. I also have to write a paper for the class the following week as I'll be out of town next week. I also have to study for the marketing final I have on Tuesday night. I have to get laundry done and pack for the trip home. Buy catfood, make sure the house is clean, make keys for Elaine so she can feed the cats, file my taxes if I can get all my paperwork in. I also have Alias and Collateral on Netflix to watch. The oil on my car needs to be changed, but maybe that can wait until I get back. I also need to see my boyfriend because I miss him, although I know he's going to have a busier weekend than I am writing a grant for his lab and putting the finishing touches on his thesis. All in all it should make for a busy weekend, but it should be good...because my headache is almost non-existent anymore...YAHOO!

My Brain Looks Excellent

At least thats what my doctor tells me. The headaches I've been having are due to muscle tension in my head. She said to try to relax and gave me some pain killers to help as well. What a relief! Its amazing all the strange diseases you can create in your mind all because of a headache!

ARGH!

I've had a headache for about 10 days now...its getting a little annoying. My doctor decided to order a CT scan of my head to see whats going on. Needless to say its a little nervewracking to have such a long headache when I never get them, but after endless internet reading I've learned that nearly ALL head pain is caused by external factors and RARELY is a headache serious when a symptom by itself. But in any case, I just want the headache to go away and find out whats going on.

What is it...August?

The humidity today is completely bizarre. Although my office is finally a comfortable 71 degrees, the humidity today in Seattle was 96%...it felt like I was drinking the air it was so damp in here.

And on to other randomness:

Chico, darling cat...why, oh WHY do you have to eat 5,000 pieces of cat food at once, so they fall out of your non-existant cat cheeks onto the floor? I promise to always feed you, just take your damn time...it's the same stuff every day. Let Henley at least attempt to eat...you outweigh him by 10 pounds...you'll live if he eats first...I promise.

It looks like the weather back in the midwest should be about 30 by the time I go home the first week in February...thank goodness. In all reality I do miss the cold, but I can do without the 50 below zero days.

Jonny Lang...a fellow Fargoan is going to be at the Moore Theatre in March...must...buy...tickets. This guy can play guitar like no one I've ever seen...and his voice is awesome. He always sings this song "Irish Angel" which isn't on any of his albums, but is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard...you have to go just to experience that song.

I finally took the time to paint my toenails this week...they were in some serious need of color.

My marketing teacher last night said in front of the class how "well written" and "fully integrated" my paper was...perfect A+ and thats without any of my usual teacher's pet, sucking up going on...woo hoo!

How sweet it is...

After another 10 days away from the guy...he is finally home...ahhhhh. And Internet, just to show you how sweet he is, he brought me a box of chocolates from a yummy place in Ann Arbor, MI. Yes...how incredibly sweet it that? I'm just happy he's home.

Wanted: A replacement

The end of Sex and the City has left me with a void to fill. But what, OH WHAT, could ever fill that wonderfulness that is a half hour episode of SATC? The search begins tonight startling with the "L Word" which is a Showtime series that is suppose to mimic Sex, but instead of men they seek, its women. Thats right ladies and gentleman, a lesbian version of my favorite show...this has gotta be good.

The Bachelorette

I admit. I watched it on Monday. And while I don't particularily like Jen, I think it will turn out to be a good show...how could it not with all of the male testosterone filling up the screen? The french guy walked in and said to Jen, "Bonjour, enchante". Seriously, is that not your life's dream to have somone say that to you? It was adorable. And enchante not only means
pleased to meet you', but can mean charmed, delighted, enchanted, enraptured. The french just have a way with words. Whens the last time a guy in this country ever said "Hello, I'm enchanted to meet you?" Um...never.

An apple...

it surely doesn't keep the doctor away. What it does do, when using your iPod, is signify that you have pressed the correct combination to RESET your iPod. And when I say reset I mean clear ALL your god-damned off of YOUR iPOD!!! Last night driving home, that cute little apple popped up and then when I went to select a playlist, it was empty. Astonished I went home, grabbed my users manual and found that if you happen to have the menu and the middle button held down at the same time, you'll clear your memory. Fabulous. At least I have all of the files on my computer, and they transfer quickly, but damnit anyway...I was seriously in the mood to listen to some specific music last night, only to find my dreams crashed by the cute little apple.

I SAID BRRRRR....

it's cold in here... (ok...please tell me you know where that line came from). I arrived at the office around 7:45 this morning only to find that our heat is having "issues". It was 60 degrees in the room that I have to spend the first hour of my Monday in, and only 62 at my desk. Throughout the day it has warmed up to a balmy 68 degrees; however, I still cannot feel my butt as it's frozen. And let me just say the only reason the temperature has risen, is because my little space heater has been going non-stop all day.

I happened to bring a fleece as a jacket to work today as a jacket, and I've been wearing it ALL DAY. Apparently 4 floors below us, it was 52 degrees this morning, so it makes 60 degrees look like a Hawaiian vacation in comparison. With any luck, tomorrow will be warmer, and I'll actually be able to take my coat off during the day.

:to the power of one:

Well for the first time since we've been friends, H, M, E and I all have boyfriends (assuming H's guy does become her valentine and E does let her guy become long term). ---breath--- with that being said tonight is one of the very first Fridays that I'll be home....alone. Everyone will be with their boy, while mine is 3000 miles away...bummer. I have my sights on laundry, vacumining, dusting, general cleaning and grocery shopping...wow, what an exciting life I lead. Why is it when you're single, being alone isn't so strange, but when you're with someone and they're not around it just feels...empty?

Dear Mother Nature

Please bring me snow. Not snow I have to drive or fly to in order to experience, but snow that is there when I wake up, waiting outside my front door for me to go for a walk in. I miss 4 true seasons, and I really miss snow. I miss big fluffy flakes of snow in my hair, my nose getting cold (ahh, the feeling of a cold nose) and coming inside to get warm. Please bring some soon. Mother Nature, I've even started to recycle this year, that must be worth at least a day of the fluffy white goodness.

Bored with the blog

I should clarify. I'm not bored of blogging, but of the actual blog itself. I want a blog thats cute and fun and reflects me. I can honestly say I'd be much more keen on the new template if the argyle were in pink, but I guess I'll have to deal until I find one I like better, or decide to actually learn to code them myself...which probobly wont happen anytime real soon.

Soundtrack

Do you ever watch a movie and think "Wouldn't it be AWESOME to have the perfect music playing during all of those important parts of my life...or any part for that matter". Well...I always thought it would be cool anyway. Last night on my way down the elevator I turned on my ipod, put in my earphones and pressed play...I was flipping through songs during the 18 flights down and just as the doors opened "Feelin' Alright" by Joe Cocker came on. It played, I walked and I felt for the first time in my life that I had a soundtrack...cool.

Tsunami Relief

The amount of people that have died and become homeless because of the tsunami is mind boggling. I'm proud of our country for quickly providing money and services to help those in need. If every person in this country donated just 5 dollars, 1.5 billion dollars could be raised. Seattle based Amazon.com has raised over 12 million dollars so far and has made giving your support easy. Just give 5 dollars...make a difference.

My company has pledged to donate 1 million dollars to relief efforts in affected countries. They have also decided to match all employee contributions made to those efforts. Their efforts make me proud to work for them.
